UIC Receives Grant to Study Positive Action in Chicago Public Schools

University of Illinois at Chicago Receives Major Grant to Study the Effectiveness of the Positive Action program in Chicago Public Schools

Positive Action, Inc., of Twin Falls, Idaho, announces the award of a $ 1.42 million grant from the Institute of Education Sciences, a division of the U.S. Department of Education, to the University of Illinois at Chicago to study the effectiveness of the Positive Action program for elementary students in the Chicago Public Schools. This is one of seven competitive proposals funded out of 67 submissions.

The Social and Character Development Research Grant will evaluate the effectiveness of the Positive Action program, which is designed to promote positive social and character development, to increase positive behaviors and reduce antisocial behaviors in elementary school children.

Positive Action, Inc., is the developer of Positive Action, a K-12 program used in over 10,000 schools nationally and internationally over the last 20 years. The program teaches students how to focus on positive thoughts, actions, and feelings in the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social areas of their lives.
