The Positive Action (PA) program involves the whole self by providing multi-functional sound instruction on physical, intellectual, and social/emotional positive actions. Students are taught positive behaviors so they can learn what to do and how to do it. They are given a chance to practice and reinforce the good feelings about themselves that come as a direct result of their doing positive actions. In turn, schools have seen in a dramatic decrease in absenteeism.
Schools implementing the PA program have realized a reduction in absenteeism by 6% to 45%. Data from various comparison group designs involving over 300 elementary schools using the PA program demonstrate consistent positive effects on attendance, truancy, and disruptive behaviors.
