Why:

Positive Action is a recognized, evidence-based, and best-practices program. This is one of the few programs available that enables counselors and therapists to address all of the issues—mental health, substance abuse prevention, health promotion and care, academic achievement, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication—in a wide array of settings and for all ages. Our studies show Positive Action gets results (see statistics at right).

Where:
With Positive Action, counselors, therapists, and others can target specific problems and help everyone, including at-risk, special-needs individuals. The truly universal and intuitive Positive Action concepts are appropriate any time and apply to every situation. A few examples: group sessions for family or group counseling, parenting classes, support groups focusing on targeted issues, before- or after-school programs or community agencies, problem demographics, and periodic classroom presentations that target key issues.

When:
Any time a specific problem is identified in a setting, the Positive Action program can be used to address that issue. It also may be used on a regular basis—daily, weekly, or monthly—to provide a positive foundation for education and positive development throughout the school or any setting. Positive Action will be beneficial at any stage of prevention, intervention, or treatment (universal, selective, and indicated).

How:
The program is extremely easy to use and builds on itself, allowing flexibility and adaptability for all sites. The manual contains 42 lessons to be taught in consecutive order for a comprehensive education in positive actions. Alternatively, the Topical Guide to the lessons allows counselors and therapists to target specific issues with individuals, small groups, classrooms, or families. Each lesson session takes 15 to 20 minutes.

Our Positive Action representatives can help any site customize the Counselor’s Kit or any combination of kits for counseling and therapy needs. Contact us today!
