What:
Positive Action provides a solid foundation for primary, middle, and secondary education and the years beyond by teaching students that positive actions make life meaningful. By recognizing and practicing positive thoughts, actions, and feelings, students prepare to be positive and contributing members of society. Objectives are accomplished through a comprehensive system including K–12 Instruction Curriculum, Climate Development Kits, and Drug Education. Each kit contains an Instructor’s Manual with scripted lessons and age-appropriate activities plus prepared materials such as posters, music, puppets, games, music, stickers, activity sheets or booklets, plays, and other items.

Why:
The evidence-based Positive Action program aligns with your state’s academic standards. It does so by offering creative lesson plans that integrate intellectual growth with personal and civic values. Positive Action lessons actually help students learn academic subjects by providing them with a solid foundation of learning skills. Our studies show that Positive Action gets results (see the statistics at right).

Where:
Thanks to Positive Action’s flexible design, any combination of kits may be used in schools or countless other settings. Institutions can choose to implement the program in homerooms or advisory periods, or in content areas such as health, social studies, math, P.E., drama, science, or English. The program even can be taught as an entire class, such as life skills. All kits are appropriate for after-school programs, alternative schools, small support groups, or community agencies.

When:
Right now is the best time to start Positive Action. Because the program is flexible and can be implemented in a variety of ways, teaching Positive Action concepts is appropriate at any time.

How:
We provide fully functional, complete kits that deliver a wide array of materials, curriculum and inspiration to teach the program. They offer a variety of strategies and methodologies to keep students and teachers interacting and interested. Staff training is available through a Positive Action trainer, Training of Trainers, or a self-training kit. If there is not time for every lesson in the unit, teachers can choose the lessons most relevant for their classrooms. The time commitment for elementary and middle schools totals about one hour per week. High schools choose how to implement the lessons, which are 15–20 minutes each.
