"This story involves 7 of my female students who are currently in the 6th grade. These students came to class (Positive Action) very excited about a small business that they were all a part of at the school. They decided to sell lollipops to the students at the school. They would charge each student $1.25 per lollipop when the lollipop cost to them was $.25
We were talking about the Philosophy of the program "You feel good [when]..." I asked them how would they feel if someone charged you an outrageous price for something like that, remember [about] treating others the way you want to be treated. Would you be okay if someone treating your siblings like you are treating [other students].
I would ask them what could they do to make these students feel better. What are you willing to do to make yourselves feel better. Are you willing to make the change.
At the end of class they were all wanting to do the right thing and they felt good about the decision they made to return some money to each student [who had bought a lollipop from them]. We emphasis self-concept, respect, treating others fairly, and feeling ground about selves."
