The Positive Action model is effective for understanding different cultures. The lessons include many activities and stories that describe a variety of cultures. Through stories and role-playing, students begin to learn that the world is full of people who are different from themselves. Lessons use characters from the stories to reinforce the philosophy that we treat others as we want to be treated, regardless of cultural identity or nationality.
These important lessons are featured at every grade level and are built upon in succeeding academic years as students progress through the grade levels. The longitudinal reinforcement of multiculturalism not only benefits their elementary and secondary school experiences but also readies students for enriching experiences in college.
