We're at a turning point in education.

As schools face rising challenges and shifting expectations, one truth remains: students need to be ready to learn. Positive Action has been preparing learners from the inside out for over 40 years using a proven approach that empowers every student, educator, and family. Now, Pasela, our flexible digital platform, makes it easier than ever to deliver Positive Action anytime, anywhere.

Why Learner Readiness Is Crucial

Learner readiness, the ability and willingness to engage, is too often treated as something fixed, an outcome of circumstance or background. But readiness isn't a trait learners either have or don't. It's a dynamic state shaped by how they feel, what they believe about themselves, and the environment around them.

What if we saw readiness not as a prerequisite, but as a key lever we can pull to amplify academic success and well-being? When we do, we open the door to deeper engagement, stronger relationships, and environments where the whole child can thrive.

What Makes Our Approach Work

Positive Action is built on a simple idea: when students feel good about themselves, they engage more fully in the learning process. Our proven curriculum helps students find their true learning potential. Grounded in known pedagogical theory, Positive Action provides educators with the tools to nurture a

sense of identity and purpose through structured lessons that support self-discovery, emotional growth, and respectful connection. Learning takes on new meaning. And when that happens, readiness isn't something we wait for. It's something we build.

Motivates

Positive Action cultivates intrinsic motivation within students by connecting their thoughts, actions, and feelings to a positive self-concept. Rooted in the understanding that feeling good about ourselves propels us towards success, the program leverages a simple yet profound law of nature: positive actions create positive outcomes, internally and externally.

Activates

Positive Action tackles student malaise head-on, activating students' effort and willingness to take charge of their own educational paths. By addressing common barriers to student readiness, such as feelings of disconnection and anxiety, we help ignite motivation where learners can show up fully and participate with purpose.

Engages

Positive Action collaboratively promotes a shared effort that goes beyond the classroom. It engages parents and guardians who bring invaluable insights into their children's needs, creating a well-rounded approach that impacts education, homes, and communities. Learners and families don't just aim for success; they are taught the essential habits and mindsets foundational to achieving it.

“Positive Action...is very easy to access, and learning the lessons is straightforward. I had my first class using Positive Action last week, and the students that I taught it to were very engaged.”

“We did a December celebration for the club members who had been participating in Positive Action and had only missed one or fewer sessions. During this celebration, a group of 7 members in the group ages 5 to 8 created a thank you board for Tianna, who leads our P.A. sessions. They made it a vision board for her from the members in that session, using the positive word of the week as the affirmations. For me, seeing children this age take initiative to spread positivity and encouragement to an adult blew my mind. They used things they had learned in their sessions to encourage their leader. It was obvious her teachings were making an impact and sinking in.”

How Learner Readiness Drives Results

Research supporting Positive Action through randomized-controlled trials shows that all student behaviors are deeply interconnected. One foundational study noted that “all behaviors, not just problem behaviors, are related to each other.” This insight shapes Positive Action's comprehensive, evidence-based approach to learner readiness. By focusing on the whole student and the positive actions they do, rather than isolated challenges, we cultivate lasting change from the inside out.

Academics

Positive Action supports learner readiness by nurturing students' intrinsic motivation, or the internal drive to learn. As students consciously connect their thoughts, actions, and feelings, their self-worth increases, driving greater academic achievement. This strengthened readiness translates directly into measurable outcomes, including a 51% improvement in State Math Scores and a 21% improvement in State Reading Scores.

Mental Health

Positive Action strengthens learner readiness by empathetically addressing mental health challenges, teaching students practical ways to honestly assess their reality, recognize personal strengths, and take responsibility for their behaviors. With a direct focus on mental wellness, we help students develop the mindset and skills needed to positively navigate life's challenges, significantly improving their readiness to learn. Research confirms this approach, showing a 17% reduction in depression, an 18% reduction in anxiety, and a 5% improvement in life satisfaction, allowing students to engage fully and healthily in their educational experiences.

Sense of Self

Positive Action builds a strong sense of self by helping students understand who they are, what they value, and how their choices shape their lives. When students feel confident and grounded in themselves, they're more likely to make positive choices, connect with others, and stay engaged in class. This inner stability fuels motivation and focus, creating the foundation students need to be fully ready to learn. Research shows a 14% improvement in self-esteem and a 19% increase in prosocial behaviors, clear signs of learner readiness.
