It’s a Small Positive Action World
From: Paul Brazzel, District Social Worker/Elementary School Counseling Grant Project Director, Lemon Grove School District, Lemon Grove, CA
Paul Brazzel shared this story after visiting his mother and sister on the island of Molokai, Hawaii over the holidays. While visiting, Paul’s niece had one of her friends from her third-grade class over to play. His niece attends Kaunakakai Elementary School. When Paul met the third-grader, he said, “I know something about you that you don’t know that I know.”
He had her full attention. “What?” she said.
“You’re a Positive Action kid!” he said.
She cocked her head and looked at him curiously. “How do you know about Positive Action?”
“I have it at my school, too.”
She smiled and broke into song; her school’s special version of “I’m a Positive Action Kid.”
Paul connected with an eight-year-old a long way from his home based on their common experience with Positive Action and their common commitment to being positive people.
This Kaunakakai school girl is moving from Molokai to 29 Palms in Southern California. Hopefully, she will end up at Joshua Tree Elementary, which also uses Positive Action, and can continue her Positive Action school experience there. Thanks to Paul for submitting this fun story.
(Kaunakakai Elementary School has used Positive Action for almost ten years.)
